This invention discloses a method and system for paper currency authentication, which includes the following steps: determining the currency type and denomination of the banknote to be authenticated; collecting the magnetic information from the banknote and outputting the corresponding analog signal; amplifying the analog signal; converting the amplified analog signal into a digital signal; comparing the digital signal with a template; if the digital signal matches the template, the banknote is authenticated as genuine; if the digital signal does not match the template, the banknote is authenticated as counterfeit; the analog signal can have at least two selectable amplification multiples, and the template can have at least two types; before banknote detection, the amplification multiple of the analog signal is adjusted according to the currency type, and the template for comparison with the digital signal is adjusted according to the banknote denomination.
This invention adjusts the amplification multiple of the signal gain channel according to different currency types, optimizes and corrects the analog signals collected by the magnetic sensor for different currency types to the signal range that the MCU can process, enabling a single device to authenticate multiple currencies, reducing the cost of authentication, and making it more convenient to use.
